(I'roin Our Special Correspondents.! » CARTERTON. .Messrs. W. Fisher and R. G. Welch have been elected to represent the Wairarap.i South Comity Council on the Wairarapn Hospital and Charitable Aid Board. Mr. W. Foster, employed by Mr. 11. .Martin, cabinetmaker, sustained a somewhat painful accident on Wednesday. He was chiselling a piece of wood when the tool slipped, and severed a finger. He was attended by Dr. Johnston. Messrs. W. Perry. K. Cooper, G. J. Foreman, M. J. M'Gregor, and J. Strang have boon elected unopposed as members of the Wairarapn South County Council. Messrs. J. Bycrs, T. V. Moore, and J. Stevens have been nominated for the Belvedere Riding, and Messrs. F. Court, J. Hodder, and R. G. Welch for (ho Dalefield Riding. As only two representatives are required in each riding, an election will take place on Wednesday next. At the last meeting of the Carterton Borough Council, Mr. C. E. Miller, sanitary inspector, reported having thoroughly inspected tho borough, and had found everything in a very satisfactory condition. One case of infectious disease had occurred during the month. Building alterations in Carterton are not very active at the present time. During the pa«t month permits to the value of only .£l2B were issued. New season's potatoes are retailing at 2d. per lb. in Carterton at the present. On Friday afternoon a buggy containing Mr. J. T. M. Hornsby was capsized on the. Morison's Bush Road, through the horse taking fright. Practically no damage was done, however, although the driver and Mr. Hornsby were considerably shaken. The journey to Mnrtinborough was resumed without further mishap. A sum of «C 307 is to lie divided among members of the Wairarapa Egg Circle, this being the financial result of tho past four weeks' supply.
