WILD WEATHER AT PALMERSTON.
. « DELUGE AND HEAVY THUNDER. (Dy TolcErapli.-Speclal Correspondent.} Palmcrston, November 5. A showery morning on Saturday was brought to a climax about three in the afternoon by one of the severest thunderstorms experienced in this district for a long period. The liphlnin- was most vivid, and. was followed by tremendous peals of thunder. These in (urn wcro succeeded by a really tropical downpour of ram, which quickly Hooded manv of the footways. Owing to the spontiags'and iruthrs on a number of buildings boiii* blocked by sparrows' nests these overflowed, and the water found its way into several business promi.-es, where a good (leal of damage was done. Heavy rain fell throughout the night, and to-day has been showery. The wind has changed to the south, 'and the temperature is a good deal colder.
