Tho railway men at Leeds, Chester, Northampton, Burton-on-Trent, Cardiff, and Swansea ore repudiating tho Strike Inquiry Commission's (indium's, and have instructed their executives to seek tbo immediate redress of their grievances, if necessary, by n strike. Mr. Keir Hnrdic, M.P., speaking at Sunderland, said be hoped tho railwaymen would trust their leaden; to deal with tbo disappointing report, and loyally accopt their findings. Unity was tho ono thing essential, and it was better to patiently await it, than to spoil tho outlook by rashness. If a strike was inevitable, joint action with tho colliers should bo securcd. This combination would beat all the powers—including tho military—that could bo brought against it. MORE PAT AND SHORTER HOURS. London, October 29. Several meetings of railway men were held in the province to-day. Tho mon demand recognition, shorter hours, and increased pay. CONGESTION AT LONDON DOCKS. SHIPS HALE FILLED. London, October 29. Thero is a serious congestion at the London docks, as a result of tho August strike. Four hundred truck loads of goods were yesterday turned back from tho Albert Docks becauso thero wero no ships ready. Tlio shipowners blamo tho dock authorities for not employing more hands, and state that many ships are leaving port only half tilled. The dockcra havo been more dilatory since tho strike. NEWPORT DISPUTE. INDUSTRIAL COUNCIL INTERVENES. London, October 29. Tho Industrial Council has arranged for a meeting between Houlder Bros, and tho Newport (lockers' representatives, (o discuss a settlement of the trouble between them. The dato of the conference is November 7. The Swansea dockers havo dccided to work Houlder Eros,' steamer Hornby Grange, but will not handle other of that firm's vessels until a settlement has been arrived at. MOUNT LYELL STRIKE. NOT YET DECLARED OVER. Melbourne, October 30. Tho general manager of the Mount Lyell Company has staled that tho published terms of tho agreement aro wrong. Tho directors only agreed to meet tho men in conference afler they had resumed work. It was understood by both sides that Norman White, tho dismissed union official, was not to be reinstated while his case was being tested in tho oourts, but this was not to prejudice tho conference. No intimation has yet reached tho company that the strike has been declared off. EMPLOYERS' DEFENCE FUND. Perth, October 30. A schemo is afoot to form an Employers' Defeuco Association, with a capital of XIOO,OOO. The secretary of (ho Labour Federation declares that tho object is to fight organised labour, which could not combat tho employers by forming a united fund of their own, ELECTROLYTIC WORKS STRIKE. Sydney, October 30. Two hundred and fifty men engaged on electrolytic works have struck. HULL OIL MILL STRIKE. (Rcc. October 30, 0.15 a.m.) London, October 30. The transport workers at Hull with a view to supporting (ho oil-mill strikers, havo resolved not to handle goods to and from tho mills. Any dismissals will be tlio signal for a general strike. LITHGOW OFFER REFUSED. [ (Rcc. October 31, 0.15 a.m.) Sydney, October 30. Through tho medium of a Trades Council deputation, Mr. Hoskins, proprietor of tho Litbgow Ironworks, has offered the Lithgow strikers a slight advance on his previous offers. A mass meeting of tho men subsequently rejected tbo offer.
