Tho mover expressed his appreciation of tlis good woTk done by the AttorneyOeneral and his belief that ho would continue to forward humanitarian measures for the good of Xcw Zealand. The motion was seconded by the lion. K. A. Loughnan. who spoke in eulogistic terms of tho qualities of Sir John Findlay.
Tho Hons. Bachan, 6. Samuel, J. K. Sinclair, J. Anstov, J. Darr, T. Thompr.on, A. Baltlcy, J. M'Gowan, J. Rigs, C. M. Luke, W. C. Carncro.-?, and .V. T. l'aul all support od the motion.
In acknowledging the motion, Sir John Find Say remarked on ill® valuo of tho friendships ho had made during his five years ns Lender of tlin Council. The longer ho spent in tlio Council, tho move he was improved with the qualifications of the Chamber for the work it did, and the lack of justification J hero was for the chcap criticism levelled at it. During tho past; live years the Council had initiated 17 Bills and had completely altered the framework of HO measures sent up for revision. If those la'tor had keen passed into law as they had reached the Council thpv would scarcely have redounded to the credit of I lie Ilonse of Representative"!. Two-thirds of the criticism levelled at tho Council was the result of ignorance of the work really done by tho Council, tie thought tlio Council should be partially nominative, bnt that there should be' introduced into it a certain elective principle. In conclusion, Sir John Findlay thanked tho Council for its li'any kindnesses and expressed the hope that, while ho would not forget them (members) they would not forget him. (Applause.)
