POLITICAL VERSATILITY.
CATCH FAKMER, CATCH WORKER. A story of political versatility was told at the agricultural show banquet at Carterton on Wednesday night. The f-poakor was a well-known farmer, who said that some years ago .Mr. Seddon addressed a certain audience, "and Mr. Sodden was eloquent when there wa» a big crowd there." The then Premier spoke' of what was going to 1)0 done fur the. workers, "not tho farmers, who liv«l on the fat, of the kind." "A little later I was at a gathering when 31 r. SkMoii was addressing a number of farmer.'. '.Now,' Mr. Swldon Niid, 'wo have hoard a great deai about what should be done for (lie working man, but let us consider what should be done for tho farmer, who is the man who products what the workingman in the town liv.rs on.'" (Laughter.) "After the way .Mr. Sedilon treated the farmers and treated the Working people." continued the farmer, "I don't think it is at all surprising that ho lreJd office as long as he did. Anyhow, 1 don't think he was. much worse than those who are in office now as far as the fanner is concerned." (Applause.)
