To-day tho commission is at both tho State mines, and to-morrow will take evidence at tho Courthouse. It had to defer inspection of the Blackball colliery owing to a slip. Tho commission will probably return to . Wellington at the end of next week. GISBORNE SHOW. Gisbornc, October 21. The thirty-second annual A. and P. 6how opened to-day in lino weather, the attendance- was not quilt as largo as usual, but a record attendance is expected to-morrow lor "People's Day." Interest in (he show is well maintained, and tho entries have increased from 1229 last year to IIMU. There was a particularly good increase in cattle. The entries in tho sheep classes are only notable for tho exhibit of Koumeys. Tho champion awards in the sheep classes were as follow :—Lincoln ram, A. J. Cameron, Gisborne; Lincoln owe, K. C.
