MR. BOLTON AT ROSENEATH.
Mr. F. G. Bolton, one of tho candidates for Wellington Past, addressed a large meeting of the electors at the Ro«>iieath Schoolroom last night. Mr. P. H. Neulle was in the chair. Tho candidate deprecated certain criticism by the Opposition candidate as being distinctly unjustified. The comparison of money expended for railway construction in the Wellington and Auckland districts respectively was quite misleading, inasmuch as there.was a great deal of new country to ooen up in the Auckland province, and scarcely any in the Wellington district. Again, the reference to tho Government's alleged failure to spend money in connection with water-power in the Wellington district was absolutely unjustified, as it was quite proper that tho Government should first of all test the financial effect of the scheme at Lake Coleridge bc-foro undertaking a further expenditure, and if any scheme were proceeded with undoubtedly that at Lake Coleridge was most promising. Referring to tho depression in Wellington, the candidate' emphasised that what was required was the establishment of more and larger industrial enterprises, and this could only be brought aliout by the affording of a reasonable aniouni of Protection. The candidate outlined his policy in respect to the cost of living. A vote of thanks and confidence was carried unanimously by acclamation, and a strong commit',oo was sot up tu further the interests of tlio candidate.
