FAMOUS LADY RIDER.
An expert whip—she can drive any team, from a tandem to a ten-in-hand— a fearless and skilled buckjnmper rider, a notable horsebreaker and trainer, a successful rider in flat and hurdle races, and winner of all kinds of equestrian com. petitions in show rings, Miss Agnes Hylaid holds a uniquo record for one of her years and sex. Miss Hyland was born in Queensland, on Goldesborough Station, near Charters Towers, and one of her earliest recolleotions is a ride of over 800 miles in company with her father, to Normanton and the Palmer reef, in the old gold rush days. She was only twelve years of age. then, and at 13 years of ago she began her career as a horse-trainor, having inherited a gift for it from her father, who was famous all over Australia for his skill with horses. The "Hyland mctho<l" is one of patience and kindness, and Miss Hyland reckons that it takes from an hour and a half to two hours to make a horse amenable to work. Now and then, of oourse, she has come across an outlaw, in . which easo the method has to be altered, for one's only chance with a horse that is ready to use his teeth and his heels, and has mastered man time after time, is to go for him with a stick, and show him that it is a fight to a finish: In show ring riding Miss Hyland has won 4G first prizes in Australia, and eho also won a £iio race. Western Australia, too, was the sceno of somo racing' triumphs. EXPERIENCE V. DIPLOMAS.
