A FATAL FOX-BITE.
ALLEGED HYDROPHOBIA IN WILTSHIRE. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright London, October 17. Mr. Bower, master of the South-West Wilt's Fox-hounds, died lost month from —so it was stated—hydrophobia, caused by a bite from a fox. Tho Board of Agriculture is making inquiries in connection with tho matter of huntsmen, farmers, and veterinary surgeons. So far no indication has been obtained of the existence of rabies, either in the past or present in West' Wiltshire. The "Daily Mail's" Paris correspondent states that the authorities at tho Pasteur Institute say that fox bite as a cause of hydrophobia is not unknown.
According to Professor Bradford, of University College, London, hydrophobia, in the great majority of.cases is communicated to man by the bites or rabid dogs, occasionally of eats, and in rare instances of foxes and wolves. The prevalence of rabies in Russia is staled to be duo largely to the frequency of wolf bites.
