CRICKET.
PETONE RAISED TO SENIORS. WITH CONCESSIONS. •V meeting of tho Management Committco of tho Wellington Cricket Association was held last evening, Mr. M. F. Luckie presiding. A communication was received from the Town Clerk in which it was stated that the Reserves Committeo had allotted the association one pitch on Kclburno Park, and one on Newtown Park. Tho charges in respect to each ground were £2 tor tho initial preparation and £2 per montn for maintenance. , A member stilted that the maintenance charge was in excess of that charged by tho council last year, and this drew forth the remark from the chairman that, in his opinion, tlioso charges were not too high . Last year I'ho charges were too small in comparison with tho work dono by the council in tho matter of pitches. 'Mr. T. M. Wilford forwarded a copjr of tho Parliamentary debate in relation to a report of the Wellington City Empowering Amendment Bill. . On the motion of the chairman, it was resolved that Mr. Wilford be thanked for his efforts in connection with tho Bill.
The secretary announced that there was a prospect of eight teams taking part in the senior competitions this season. This included the Pelono team. In reply to a letter from the association asking tho Potone Club to play senior cricket this season, it was stated that tho Petone Club would enter a team provided that they were allowed to enter on junior subscription fee, namely, ss. A second proviso was that matches be played OB tho homo ground, and a third, that tho club be not asked to enter a junior team, but be allowed to enter two third-class elevens. So as to envo a bye in tho senior fixtures it was decided that Petone's request bo granted. A stipulation was made, however, that when their thirdgrade teams meet Wellington the matches be played on the College ground. It was decided that Sauhdors should again play for Victoria College Club this searon. The motion by Mr. George, which had been passed nt a general meeting on tho previous evening, viz., that a finance subcommittee be appointed to consider the financial position of the association each year, was touched upon. Members supported tho scheme generally. It was held, however, that the Management Committee should be represented on tho Finance Committee, and that it should not consist solely of outsiders. Eventually. Mr. W. Burbridgo, moved: "That the Finance Committee consist of not less than five members." Tho speaker thon wont on to sifggest names of those, whom ho thought would allow themselves to be elected. This brought forth protests from those present, it being held that it was no use selecting a committeo until it was known whether those chosen would become raeml>ors. Eventually it was decided that consideration of the personnel of the Finance Committee bo held over until next meeting.
