SOMETHING ABOUT THE DOG?. The dog section of the Wanganui show, held under tho auspices of the Wanganui Kennel Club, is considered the premier dog show of tho colony, inasmuch as the entries for the past two years have constituted n record. The club have carefully revised tho schedule this year which now comprises 10;) different classes, including practically every known breed of dog, in addition to which there aro variety classes, also children's classes, braces, teams, ladies' class, ladies' bracelet, litter class and judging competition. Tho challenge classes this year are given for bulldogs, English setters, Irish setters, Gordon setters, pointers, fawn pug dogs, black pr,gs. In tho matter of prize money the club are especially liberal, as they actually give away the whole of the entrance fees. In addition to about 70 valuable spreial prizes, including the solid silver challenge cup presented by the Eginont-Waiigan'ui Hunt Club to t'lie huntsman gaining the greatest number of points in tho harrier cla.v-es. \ The Irish Terrier Club also give five trophies, one value ,£G (is., another valun .£lO 10s„ and a gold charm brooch, and a trophy valued at JC7 10s. each for the b«t dog and bitch in the .;lnw. The shed is large and commodious, and complete with all appointment's, and the attendants engaged t'i care for (ho exhibits are experienced in I heir duties. Exhibitors can therefore be fully satislied that the dogs will'be well and properly fed, groomed, and exercised while in the club's charge. The committee give personal supervision to their charges, both in receiving and dispatching, as also to feeding, grooming, etc., so that nothing is left Io chance. Tho committee especially request that all dogs bo sent in crates or boxes, as loeso dogs give an immense amount of extra work. Tho entrance fee for the classes is 2s. Oil. members, and 3s. Cd. non-members, and entries will be received up to SaturNovember 4. All entries received previous to tho closing of general entries will be admitted with members' rates, viz., 2s. Cd.; after (hat, up to November 4. all entries will be charged 3s. Cd. Catalogues may be obtained from secretaries of" all kindred societies, or by sending a post-card to Box 152, Warganui.
