9 . (By Tcleiraph—Special Correspondent.) Mastcrton, October 15. At a meeting of the Wairarapa Athletic Association, held yesterday, (he proposal of the Wellington Centre i'or amalgamation was considered, and a committee was set up to discuss tho matter with tho "Wellington Centre. Mr. M. Laverv was eleeted president of the association in succession to Mr. .1. B. Mackenzie. Tho "Willow Park" estate, near Mas(cvton, belonging to Messrs. Welch Bros, has been sold to Mr. Duncan M'Lachlan. Mr. A. W. Hogg, M.P., returned ti> Masterton yesterday. It is expected that it will bo some weeks before lie will be able to undertake active work. Several Mastcrton breeders are exhibiting at Poverty Bay and other shows in the North Island this month.
