Kcls.iU, of Onehunga, for compensation for the destruction of bis property at Onehunga, which was burned under the direstion .if the Public Ilealtl'. Department, acting on a stipendiary magistrate's order, as cases of plague had occurred in the building. Tho Public Petitions (A to L) Committee reported that it liad 110 recommendation to make. Tlio Primo Minister (Sir Joseph Ward), acceding to a suggestion put, forward by Mr. Laiijj, said that wlien property was destroyed in tho interests of tlio public tho Stat© should certainly make pood the loss suffered by the individual, who might be as, in tho present instance, an innocentf victim of circumstances. (Hear, hear.) lie honed the report would be referred back £n order that the Government might give careful consideration to the petition, and also to Hie general application of tho claim. Tho report was referred back to lie committee.
