KARORI COUNCIL.
The fortnightly meeting of the Karori Borough Council was held at the Council Chambers, Karori, last evening. PresentCouncillors Hildreth (in the chair), Bradnock, Frost, Hamilton. Horn, Niinmo, Anderson, Burn, ami Standen. The following recommendations of the Works Committee were adopted :—(l) In regard to the. position of the Fail-view Estato streets referred to the committee for consideration; tho committee would refer the council to tho borough en"ineer's report thereon, and recommend that the streets bo not taken over until tho sum mentioned in the report is paid or tho streets puMu order. That the' request of the Karori School Committee for the allotmont oi a. pitch for tho bovs 013 the Ketireation Ground bo granted, provided that a responsible person is in charge of tho boys when using it. . It was reported that, at a special meeting of the council held on September 26 the following motion (moved bv tho ■Mayor) had been carried: "That the surplus of <£313 16s. lid. -remaining from the tramway loan, together with other money derived from tho sale of spoil, e-ic. Mtn gether amounting to .£585 12s. U.) bo used for tho purpose of erectin" a' tea room and pavilion on the Recreation trrouna, at ail estimated cost of Also,that a sum of £200 be expended""™' providing a concrete wall and gates on the boundary of the Recreation Ground and Mam Road, and that the remainder ?r • ® dGrot&d to improving Main .Road." 1 ° This motion will not come up for confirmation until tho next meeting of the council, but a recommendation by tho Works f.ommittce—that tendors be callcd ,- 4 °- r thl -n w ?7 k M 60011 as tho formalities will allow—was adopted.
