He .believed that the Californian thistle they had in this district came in the grass and other'seed from tho South Island, and it was possible some noxious weed seeds came in the clovers from Home. It was an Act that was badly wanted. It was pointed out that according to the. schedule of, the Bill, 1 per cent, of Californian thistle was allowed in grass seed. Mr. Pearce said he would not buy 100 bushels of grass seed if he' thought there-was a bushel of. Californian thistle seed in it. Hb proposed that in the opinion ..of this branch tho percentage allowed by the Bill was too high. Mr. M'Elroy seconded tho motion, which was agreed to.
