Sir John Findlay and Mr. P. Lawry, M.P., left for Auckland by the Main Trunk express on Saturday.

Sir Joshua and Lady Williams were passengers by the Maori from tho south yesterday morning.

Our Palmerston correspondent states that the funeral of the lato Mr. James Skorman took place thero on Saturday afternoon, there being a 'largo cortege. Tho service was conducted by the Rev. H. G. Roscher, both at All Saints' Church and at tho cemetery.

Mander, member for Marsden, who is lying ill in a private hospital i.i Wellington, will probably bo unable to resume his place in tho Houso this session, and though he is recovering, it is feared that ho will not bo able to mako n completo tour of his electorate before tho election. Our Wanganui correspondent states that the Rov. A. Morton, of St, Andrew's Presbyterian C'hurcli, who loaves shortly for Lovell's Plat, Otago, was entertained by his Rapanui parishioners yesterday, and was the recipient of a presentation, his work during the past six years being referred to in very complimentary tonus.

Mr. Fredk. Kales, for many years the owner of a station at Flat Point, on the East Coast, died in a private hospital in Wellington on Saturday morning. He was a native of New Zealand, and was ihe son of-one of the earliest settlers > the Wellington district.. About two ago ho sold tho Flat Point Station, which he had inherited from his father, and came to live in Wellington.

Mr. Harold Brown, of Messrs. Laery and Co., Ltd., Wellington, accompanied by Mrs. Brown, returned on Saturday by the Main Trnnk from Auckland, after a tour of the Islands, extending over two months.

Friends of Mr. J. Hott, who has been confined to bod with illness for some time past, will bo pleased to know that ho is making progress towards recovery. His son, Mr. J. M. A. Hott, is expected back this week from Australia, where ho has been for some time on a holiday.

On Saturday Mr. W. Moxham, who is severing his connection with the mechanical staff of the "Evening Post" (with which he has been associated for 17 years) in order to assume control of the recently-established jobbing department of The Domimou, was tho recipient of a presentation by members of tho "Post staff. Mr. T. Jones made the presentation on behalf of the staff.

Tho Government has re-appointed tho former members of the Greymouth Harbour Board for a further torm of two years. The members arc tho Hon. Sir A. R. Guinness, Kt., M.P.; Hon. James Marshall, .M.L.C.; Messrs. Felix Campbell, A- C. Russell (Mayor), and W. R. Kettle (Greymouth), E. J. Scantlebury (Rocfton), and J. A. Murdoch (Mayor of Kumara).
