.4 MOLES AND THE GALE. IBj Telecriph.-Soecial Corre33ondent.) Wanganui, October 7. At the annual meeting of the Aramoho Cricket Club, Major Lomax was elected president, Mr. W. J. Robertson captain, and Mr. R. Bowman secretary. At tho monthly meeting of the Harbour Board last evening the engineer reported that the recent flood-silt had so far cleared away that now there is a least depth at high springs of 18ft. 3in. on the bar. The engineer says that there is now a fine inner harbour extending from the bar to Castlecliff Wharf, with a least depth of 20ft. at high springs. The river channel to the town also shows further improvement. v The work on the moles and training walls during the month has been mainly in the direction of increasing the height in various places.' The recent heavy gales put the moles to a severe test, but the engineer states that no loss or displacement of stono can be detected.
