MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

(Before Mr. W. G. Riddell, S.M.) Owing to yesterday being Dominion Day the Magistrate's Court sat at 9 a.m. Two first offenders for drunkenness, who did not appear, were convicted and fined 10s. each, in default 24 hours' imprisonment. ■William M'Leod, similarly charged, was' convicted and lined 55., in default 24 Hours' imprisonment. Mary Collins-and John Doyle, two first offenders for drunkenness, were convicted and discharged. Alexander Jenkins was charged with using bad language on a train between Ot'aki- and Wellington on September 23. He pleaded not guilty. After evidence had been takeu he was lined £1, in default 21 days' imprisonment.
