September 21, 10.15 p.m.) ' London, September 21, Tho Executive of the Boxers' Union— which is registered as a trades union—denounces the attack on tho proposed John-son-Wells fight, and appeals for the support of tho trades unions to counteract an agitation against the sport from which its members derive their livelihood.
The manifesto praises the boxers' moral qualities through tho sport compelling them to eschew vices.
PROTEST GATHERING FORCE. London, September 20. The Rev. F. B. Meyer's campaign against the hoiding of the Johnson-Wells fight , is gathering force. Columns of protesting letters appear in the newspapers. Mr. Meyer has visited the Home Offico to protest. An influentially-signed memorial is being prepared. . The Bishop of London (Dr. Ingram) has joined the agitation, EFFECT IN AFRICA FEARED. Cape Town,'Septomber 20. The "South African News" states that it appears the Government will prohibit tho importation of kinematographs of the fight, fearing they might affect tho native mind.
