. « SCHEME IN PROSPECT. At tho meeting of the City Council last nijjht Councillor Godbor moved: "That this council take into immediate consideration tho question of remodelling the congested areas of the city, and that a special committeo (to be named tho Congested Areas Committee) be appointed to , formulate a scheme to carry out the work, prepare any necessary legislation, and report to the council." Councillor Fletcher seconded tho motion. He pointed out, however, that in any scheme for remodelling a congested area Mine provision must bt> made lor tho housing of the people who happened to Ira disturbed while tho process was going on. Councillor Uindmarsh moved by way of amendment that the matter be referred to the Finance Committee, instead of to a special committee. The amendment was not seconded. Councillor Barber supported the resolution, which was carried without dissent. The following were appointed members of the special committeo:—Tho Mdyor, Councillors Frost', Trevor, Cameron,, Shirtcliffe, aud Godber.
