PORT NICHOLSON YACHT CLUB.
ANNUAL REPORT. The following is a precis of tho twentyeighth annual report of the Port Nicholson Yacht Club. The club held a successful opening at Scorching ' Bay, on December 17, 1910, which function was attended by a largo number of people. The s.s- Pilot was chartered. to carry passengers, and they were entertained at the bay at afternoon tea. In connection with the number of yachts competing in tho club's various events during the year, the committee compliment the first-class on showing the largest muster. Tho committee also remark on tho rather poor showing in the thirdiclass races. The ocean race to Port Underwood for first-class yachts was a success. In all probability the club will arrange another similar race during the coming season. During the season a largo number of the club's yachts made cruises to the Sounds, and these were thoroughly enjoyed. The secretary wishes to call attention to the right of yachts to fly tho Blue Ensign. To those who do not know, it will bo news that the club has a 'charter to fly this Ensign, and any yacht owner may obtain an individual warrant to hoist it, providing that his yacht bo registered with H.M. Customs, or, if,' a warrant has been issued, a transfer may bo obtained through the secretary of the club. It may be stated that, at the present time, there is not one yacht in tho club chartered to fly this flag. Tho number of yachts ntiw flying the club burgee is 27, there being an addition of four new boats this season. The membership roll shows 113 active members, 10 hou. life members, and 23 supernumerary members. Twenty-three new members wero elected last season, and only ono member resigned. This resignation, however, was regrettable, as the club thereby lost one of its oldest and best friends, in Mr. A. H. T.urnbul!, who has held almost every office in the club, and has Tondcred valuablo service at all times. The resignation of Mr. F. O. Tattle from the office of secretary. was also much regretted. The present satisfactory position of the club is due largely to tno efforts of Mr. Tattle. Three committee men resigned during tho year, and their places were filled at a general meeting of the club. The social interests of tho club wwe attended to by an energetic coramittce. The benefit night given by the proprietors of the King's Theatre was also a success, as was a moonlight excursion and concert at Day's Bay. Tho .prizes aud trophies won during the season wore presented at a social held in Starr's Rooms, on July 21. Tho committco wish to thank tho proprietors of the King's Theatre, tho Wellington Steam Ferry Co., also the following for donations:—Messrs. C. J. Ward, G. Bothamlev, W. H. Tutkor and Co., Messrs. Andrews and Wyatt, G. Jackson, M. Laing, and R. Tompsitt, also tho handicapper, starters, and timekeepers, and the social committees.
The statement of receipts and expenditure shows a credit of .£l3 Is. 23. Tho largest expenditure last year was prizemoney, .£72 13s. The principal receipts during the year were subscriptions, MS Is.; proceeds King's Theatre yaclit night, £33 9s. Gd.; entrance fees, .£3O 9s.' Gd. The balance of assets over liabilities is ■£35 Us.
