. IN AND AROUND HASTINGS. (By Telegraph.—Special Correspondent.! Hastings, September 11. Political matters are assuming an animated aspect. To-morrov night Mr. Eustace Lane opens his campaign, for tlio .Uawko's Bay seat with an address in the local theatre. Tho "Daily Telegraph" gives currency to a rumour that Mr. C. Hall, in retiring from tho Waipawa seat, is really making way for the Hon. Thos Mackenzie. Mr. A. L. D. Eraser ir just back from an electioneering tour in tlio Wainia portion of tho Uawko's Bay constituency. Mr. Eraser was laid up through illhealth for a portion of the time. Ho *-as in Wairoa, but he has ■ now recovered. Mr. 11. M. Campbell lias been addressing a series of meetings in this district, ana leaves this week for Wairoa.
