CITY TRAMWAYMEN.

THE COUNCIL AND THE UNION. A conference is to tako place this evening between the executive officers of the City Tramways Department and the representatives of the executive of the i'ramwaymen's Union, lor the purpose of considering the position concerning the various workers in dispute between the union and the corporation. It is hoptd flint the deliberations of the executive heads of either side will result in the framing of recommendations for presentation th the Tramways Committee of the City Council. The men are getting very impatient over the long delay which' has taken place with regard to their demands, which were first presented in October last. Ballot papers are being sent in to-day for the purpose of ascertaining the minds of the members of the union on the subject of an nppoal to the Conciliation Council, and possibly, the Arbitration Court.
