STRANGE AFFAIR.
A WOMAN'S DISAPPEARANCE. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Melbourne, September 2. The detectives aro baffled over the case of the missing woman Mary Davies, in connection with whose disappearance Dr. Peacock has been arrested for murder. She is the thirteenth woman who lias mysteriously disappeared in Victoria this year. On searching Dr. Peacock's house they discovered pieces of bone among tho ashes in a fireplace; also an apron stained with blood. A pathological examination of those proved indecisive. IMPORTANT DISCOVERT. (Rec. Sept. i, 1.15 sum.) Melbourne, September 3. . Tho police and black trackers discovered in. the ashes of a fire at Dr. Peacock's farm at Carrum tho remains of falsa teeth, a purse, hairpins, and other articles which have been identified as like those owned by tho missing woman' Mary Davies.
