HEARTY FAREWELL

Tho Australian Ondets, who nr© returning homo by tho steamer Demosthenes, inarched to Victoria Station by way of Liverpool Street, passing the Commonwealth offices. Sir George Reid (High Commissioner for Australia) inspected the lads. Major Wynne presented' Sir George Reid with an album of photographs of scenes and incidents in tho visits of tho cadets to places in Britain. The cadets saluted tho Lord Mayor (Sir John Vesey Strong) at tho Mansion House. Many Australians, including Mr. T. A. Coghlan, Agent-General for New South Wales, farowelled the lads in Liverpool Street. Sir George Eeid sent a message to the effect that it had been a source of tho utmost pleasure to inspect the lads, whose conduct from first to last had been of the best. Though young, they had already crowned their a/tributes of oourage, quickness, and intelligence with a surprising degree of discipline, which was as essential in peace as in war. Sir George congratulated them on the splendid way they had represented young Australia in tho Motherland. Tho Lord Mayor telegraphed his congratulations on the cadets' discipline, and wished them a pleasant voyage. As the Demosthenes was leaving dock a messenger brought Major Wynne a letter, in which the Colonial Office stated that the King had approved of a Coronation medal being given to each member of tho Commonwealth Cadet Contingents. The medals will bo forwarded to lord Denman (Governor-General of Australia) in a few weeks for presentation in Australia. Tho announcement was received with tumultuous cheers. / Major Wynne is delighted with tho excellent accommodation on tho Demosthenes.
