WELLINGTON SHARE MARKET. Waihi shares were again in strong evidence yesterday, n.iul &old ui) to 755. 3d. ex dividon-d, and closing flt 72. The reason for the weakness at the clas« is net made apparent, but probably it is the result of a too rapid rise followed by a slight reaction. The following cablegram has been dispatched by tho Waihi superintendent to tho London otee: Next 15 feet Empire Itcef, low level, assayed three guineas. WAIHI GIUND JUNCTION. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.! Waihi, September 1 In tho Grand Junction mine the development ef tho lodes m tho various winzes being sunl: towards Xo 6 level is proving eminently r.atisfactoi-y. At the present moment there otc nine winzes in hand ranging in depth from a few feet to ICS feet, and the values of ore in these winzes are up to expectations. In some cases the value has been hishe.r than was anticipated. Tiic sinhiire of the shaft is proneeding satisfactorily, and it is anticipated that the necessary depth for opening outwill bo reached during the month. The cquipmeat in connection with tho new shaft is neaping completion. The engine, •winding plant, change houses, and necessary adjuncts have practically been completed. The machinery is now coming to hand for tho extension of the powerhouse. These additions will considerably more than double the horse-power available, the increasa totalling between 2500 and oCCCh.p. The recent development in the lowest level of the Waihi mine shows tho Empile lode to be 23ft. wide, 13ft. of which has been assayed, the average value being over £3 per ton. The bedy of ore continues strong, and of fine appearance. WAIRAU VALLEY GOLDI.IINING CO. Tho shareholders cf tho Wairau Valley Goldmining Company, who have exorcised considerable patience under adverse conditions, aro apparently now to receive their reward. The Jubilee reef has been cut in t.he low level, and scorns to possess considerable value. Tho assay value has yet to bo ascertained, but, if it proves anything lilio as rich as it was in the winze, it will turn out very profitable. The mine is fully equipped with a crushing phut, and it only remains for sufficient ore to be got l)Ut for crushing to begin. The directors of the company held a meeting last night, and transacted a considerable amount of business. It seems to l:o time that tho shareholders took steps to have this company lie-ted on the Wellington Stock Exchange. DREDGING. U3y Telegraph.—Press Association.) Dtinc;lln, September* 1.
