FRUIT INSPECTION.
HOBABT SHIPPERS SEE SIR JOSEPH , WARD. Representatives of the fruit shippers and shipping companies had an interview with Sir Joseph Ward, Prime' Minister of New Zealand, at Hobart, on Monday, with the object of getting him to remove tho embaiyo in reference to the necessity for tlie inspection of "fruit" shipped to New Zealand, and of .ceitificahs. It pointed out to Sir Joseph War/1 that at a conference of Ministers of Agriculture it had been, decided that inspection was required at 'the port of entry only, and ho. was asked to agree to_ a similar arrangement in regard to Now Zealand. Sir Joseph Ward sail if he could receive a letter from the Department of Agriculture that Tasmania was free from fruit fly hv would favourable consideration to the reriuost.
