« SPEAKER'S POWER TO BE CHALLENGED. Dy Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Sydney, August 26. Mr. Wade, Leader of the Opposition, stated in the House that the Government and Mr. Willis would be given an early opportunity of justifying their actions on Thursday. This is understood to mean that tho legality of Mr. Willis's appointment will bo tested in the courts by defying the Speaker. Then, if acting under his orders the Serjeant-at-Arms touches a member, proceedings will bo taken for a technical assault. A VALID ELECTION. (Rec. August 28, 1 a.m.) Sydney, August 27. Mr. Holman, Acting-Premicr, states that ho" has no scintilla of iloubt as to the validity of Mr. Willis's election to tho Speakership.
