SOME OP THE CANDIDATES. A requisition was recently presented t» Mr. Arthur Withy asking him to stnud in the Government interest for tho Waitcmala electorate llr. Withy accepted tho invitation. Mr. T. \Y. Rhodes, newspaper proprietor, of Goromandol, will oppose the sitting member (Mr. E. H. Taylor) tor tho Thames electorate, at the forthcoming general elections. Mr. Rhodes will 6tand as a Government supporter on all queslions excepting the land, in which connection lie is a strong freeholder. Mr. I'. Keogan, a iaimer, of Wh.ikatano, lias been selected as the Government candidate to contest tho Tauranga seat against Mr. Herries. Mr. H. 8. Brings, Mayor of Parnell, haa promised to give consideration to a requisition asking him to accept nomination (or the I'nrncll peat. A representative deputation of Waited mata electors waited upon Mr. W. J. ; Nnpicr with a new of inducing him tq again contest that constituency in prefer, enco to one in the city. Mr. Napier' faid that ho had be?n strongly urged to' contest the electorate of City Central, and, in point of fact, committees were already busy in that centre promoting ■his candidature.
