The second concert of (he eighth season of tho Maiterton'Orchestral Society was given in the Town Hall last evening, before a good audience, 'ilio programme was attractive, and those present testified appreciation by frequent applause. Jho orchestral items reflected credit upon the conductor (.Mr. J. Candy). The soloists wero 3lr. A. Wiikcs, of Carterton, ana .Mr. Edward L. Lees. . Mr. Snowball, who is leaving Mas..crto.n to tako up No-Licansc work in the Dar.uevirke district, is to bo entertained tonight by members of the Y.M.C.A. at a "social." Mr. Snowball has been seers tary and organiser of tho local branch of tho association for soma years, and has done excellent work. , The Mast-erton A. and V. Association has decided to remove the permanent stands on tho Solway grounds Ironi their prosent position to a more suitable site. The Ground Committee of tlm association is also obtaining estimates lor tho roofing of sixteen pens for the exhibition , of bulls. . ,~' . , It is considered improbable thai, any objections will be lodged to the new boundaries of the Mastcrvon district, althou"h it cannot bo said (hat a community of interest exists in tho olectorace. While some of the suburbs of the town are in the Wairarapa electorate, Iho furthermost boundaries of Mastcrton extend almost to Daimcvirko. The annual meeting of the Masteilon Uairv Company is to be held 10-monw. The'annual report slates that fcl)*r made for the season totalled 210,0,41b., being an increasa of (ifl.BSSlb., over ,the nuantirv manufactured for tho .previous year After providing for depreciation ot premises and plant, and writing o,t a small amount for bad debts, there is a total of JM2O3 3s. lOd. carried to the appropriation account. 'Hie annup.l meeting of shareholders m the Wellington Farmers' Meat Company is to be held next month. The works are now being got in readiness for the coming season, which opens early in October. The erection of a bacon factory is proceed ing, and new machinery is being otherwise installed.
