FIRST NIGHTERS' CLUB.
NEW SCHEME OF THEATRE BOOKING. As noted in these columns recently, there is a system in operation in connection with tho theatres of J. C. 'Williamson, Ltd., in Sydney and Melbourne, whereby regular playgoers book first-night scats ail tho year round for productions in a particular theatre. This system is being introduced in Wellington* by the same firm, and circulars are beiug issued to regular patrons of the theatre with a view of initiating the system, which will commence in the different, centres with "Our Miss Gibbs," tho successful musical comedy which broke nil existing records in Sydney. Tho circular reads <is follows :— "I wish to place ebfore you a matter I feel sure will meet with the approval of all'our dress circle and ■'reserved stalls'-', patron's-.' 1 refer to tho introduction throughout New Zealand of the first-nighters' system of booking seats- for the opening night of all our productions. This system has been in foreo in Sydney and Melbourne for several years, and has at nil times given tho utmost satisfaction. It is necessary for each person who desires to join in tho movement to sign the enclosed "form, and return as soon as possible to Mr. M. J. Brookes, of the Dresden Piano Co., whoa tho name will be placed in the record-book. The following rules and regulations will bo strictly adhered to;—(1) A member must enter into a contract for twelve (12) months. (2) No. more than eight (S) scats will A'o allowed to any member for every first! night of each production. (3) Tho member will bo notified two days previous to the opening of the "first-nighters'" plan, and the.coupon-system will bo instituted, which has been proved to be the most successful way to carry out this system, (i) The number of seats allotted for tho initial introduction of tho 'first-nighbrs" =vstem bv each member will bo marked o'ff for iliem on each subsequent first nHit of all productions, and they are responsible for same. (5) A charge of one shilling.(ls.) over and above the advertised prices for the dress circle and reserved stalls will bo made for each scat applied for. (01 A membra- wishing to withdraw may do so upon giving two months' notice in writing, and this will onlv apply when a member has carried out tho contract for sHx months, conditionally unou Mr. Brookes being satisfied it' was unavoidable. A member so rcsi»ning will i»t bo permitted to again join" in tho system under any circumstances.'
