4 IN CHRISTCHURCH. (By TeleertLDh—Press Association Christchurch, August 21. At the City Council this, evening 0110 councillor drew attention _ to tho nuinber of unemployed in tho city, and stated that between MO and -100 men wero out of work The Mayor stated that practically all municipal work for which there was funds was in hand, and one councillor contended that representations should bo mado to the Government on the subject, lie added that, in wiew of the general election, tho matter would receive "immediate attention." (Laugh tor.) Hie Mayor states that, if a deputation waited on him to-morrow and satisfied him that unemployment was general, ho would telegraph at once to tho Government.
