MIRAMAR BOROUGH COUNCIL.
. The fortuiglitly meeting of tho Miramar Borough Council was held last even- - ing, the i Mayor (.Mr. J. Brodie) being iu the chair. Also present: Councillors Bowie, Bell, ltichards, Laurenson; Telford, and "itond. A letter was received from the Department of Labour in reply to the council's query-as to whether, when paying men, the council was bound to have tlio money sent round. This reply stated that it was not a. matter provided for by either award or Act and, in that case, if; a man refused to call for his wages weekly, according- to the council's arrangement, ho • must, accept it when tho money was sent round. . . /The plans of. the proposed Town Hall' were referred to tho Town Hall Committee with power to call for tenders. It was mentioned that a special meet- . ing would shortly Ikb held to confirm tho amended building by-laws. It was decided to co-operate wit'h the City Council in regard to raising money for the Taylor memorial Fund. It was decided to refer tho water-supply by-laws to the water and drainage committee, and it' was also decided to confirm tho amended building by-laws. ®
