A Press Association message received last night states that the Ruapehu, with Sir Joseph Ward and party on board, passed Albany on Tuesday. Mr. Easson, of Mh'amar, returned from a visit to Sydney yesterday. The death is announced of Mr. 11. F. Eager, a well-known Otaki resident, who for many years past had taken an active part in local government. The deceased arrived in Wellington from Sydney in 1842, and settled in Otaki and he established tho first general etoro in that district. Mr. D. H. Johnstone, late, of tlio D.1.C., who is leaving for Uobart to-day, where is is to l;o married, was entertained by his friends at Lyatl Bay .last evening. Mr. Johnstone was the recipient of able present and an illuminated address.
