ASSOCIATION.

DOMINION COUNCIL MEETS. Mr. H. N. Holmes presided over a meet-, ing of the Neu- Zealand Football Association, hold last evening. The ing delegates were also present:—Messrs. C. J. Ward (Canterbury), C. E. Fordham (Otago), W. M. Matheson (Marlborough), W. Wells (Southland), J. J. Roberts (Wellington), \V.. J. H, Reynolds (Poverty, Bay),, and B. L. Salmon, secretary? "' ' The Otago Association forwarded a copy,of ,the minutes in regard to the action takeii. against D. Baillie and J. Simpson for misconduct on the occasion of the Otago representatives' visit to Cauterbury. . It was decided to endorse the action of the Otago Association. It was nlto decided that a letter be sent, asking if their decision not to allow the two players mentioned, to represent Otago in future- representative matches, was also a recommendation that these players l>o root chosen to represent New Zealand. Owing to several players. leaving the district, and other unforeseen circumstances, the Wanganui Association' advised that tlrey were at present unable toi- send a team to play Canterbury for the Brown Shield. It was mentioned, however, "that there would be greater, possibility of doing so later on, and a request was mado that their challenge b« held over until later in the season. The request was granted, and it wns decided to inform' the Wellington Association that, as their challenge was next in order, they should communicate with Canterbury, and arrange a suitable date for a match. Permission was granted to Otago _ to play a representative match against Southland. A letter was received from tho Auckland Association, in which it was stated that a circular letter had been, received from the Sports Protection Society, asking the Northern Association if they would affiliate. The letter atldotl that discussion on. the. matter had been held over pending a reply from the connuil regarding tho question of affiliation. Considerable discussion ensued on the subject, and strong opposition was made against tho New Zealand Council's affiliating with the Sports Protection Association. Some of the members presen'. thought thnt before acting the New Zealand Council should circularise the affili; ated associations, and obtain their views on the question. A motion: "That the Now Zealand Council have nothing to do with five Sports Portion Association," w<is lost, aii'l an amendment, carried which wns to tho effret that the matter be held over until a future meeting, and that a circular letter be cent to nil affiliated associations asking for their opinions on the matter. At the conclusion of tho meeting Mr. C. E. I'ordham -pDke of the impeuding departure of the chairman, Mr. H. N. Holmes, from New Zealar.d. The speaker remarked that ho was sure that he wns voicing (he opinion of tho council and footballers generally when Up stated Hint tenure of office on the various bodies connected with the sport, Mr. Holmes had done splendid work. It was largely through his enterprise and assistance that the game had reached the position which it now held not only in Wellington, but throughout New Zealand. Ho was an enthusiast, and wanted to see tho game make greater strides during tbn coming years than it. had done during tho eight venrs in which ho has held office. He f'xner-ted to visit Australia shortly, and would do everything possible to push the game ahead there. It- was his intention to see the close of the present s?<ison in Wellington, bocauso there were big undertakings in hand. In conclusion. Mr. Holmes stated that hn might only ho nwav from New Zwilnnd for a. year, and would look forward to the time of returning.
