GOOD BUTTER PROSPECTS.
Indications are pointing more and more strongly to a very active demand .for New Zealand butter during the coming season. For somo weeks past, remarks the "Taranaki Herald," London coblo messages have told of exceptionally dry weather, both in England'and oil the Continent, and as tho drought still continues, it is mi serious matter for dairy farmers and' others on the other side of tho ■ world, but their misfortune is our gain, for it means th'at thero will be & short make of butter there, and New Zealand shippers will reach a market that is .'-unusually bare. Tho summer is so far advanced now in the northern hemisphere that there is scarcely a possibility of- a recovery, for even if rain coines soon, the early frosts, which generally occur, in September, will prevent much 'growth of grass. Moreover, the season will be a very bad one for root crops, and winter feed will consequently Iμ: scarco ami dear. These facts support the opinion expressd by AVeddel and Co., in their annual report, that higher prices will rule for ; butter and cheese during tho coming season. . . There is every prospect of excellent prices ruling for both butter and cheese for the season now opening, find, if the weather is kind, farmers should experience one of fuc best seasons they ever had. .
