If 1 remember aright, Hip City Council, at tho suggestion of the Mayor, selected the northern (•xlreimty of flic Kent Terrace reserve, as the nvw location for this fine piece- of work from the hands of Alfred Ih-uvy, R.A.—a very good site, tco—but now I see i* is about to to erected a hundred yards up the Terrace, quite away from the givat mass' of the public which assembles at the. busiest tramway sfopping-placo in tho city (at tk> end of (,'ourtenay Place), and beyond the radius of observation of the thousands who visit Oriental Ray every fine day. Were thestatue erected at the northern extremity of the Terrace, it would overlook the bigpest. open space within/the city, and wonl<l be a welcome relief to the maze of tramway and telegraph poles (erected sit all angles) which offoiul the view. I do trust that action will be taken by tho authorities to have the slaftic erected where originally intended—at tho foot, of the Terrace. The asphalt squares here and there in tho reserve could bo reserved for the statues of England's kings and queens, and so in time bring into being a kind of Terrace Royal or Kingsway.— I am, etc., n
