AUTUMN SESSION PROBABLE UNIONIST CENSURE MOTIONS IN BOTH HOUSES. A DRAMATIC SURPRISE. By Tclesrauh-Prpss Association-Coryndit London, August '1. Mr. Balfour, Leader of the Opposition, has given notice that Jie will move the following censure motion on Monday next :— ' "That the action of tho Government in obtaining a pledge for the creation of Peers is a grow violation of Constitutional liberty, precluding the people frum pronouncing on tho questiuu of Home Rule {or Ireland." Mr. Balfour intimated that he would ask the Prime Minister to give tho date ou which the pledge was asked for. Air. Asquith was absent from the House through indisposition when Mr. Balfour gavo his notice of motion. TO RECONCILE THE STALWARTS. ADJOURNMENT IN A FORTNIGHT. (R«c. August 3, 9.25 p.m.) London, August 3. Lord Lansdowne, Leader of the Opposition in the House of Lords, yesterday gave notice, on behalf of Lord Cnrzon, of a motion of censure on the Government in connection with tho Veto Bill, in similar terms to Mr. Balfour's motion in the House of Commons. Lord Curzon will bring his motion before the House on Tuesday. 'Mr. Balfour's motion was sprung ou the House with dramatic suddenness, and is regarded in the lobby as a demonstration in force, aiming at the reconcilation of the Unionists, and tending to satisfy tho combative policy of the stalwarts to compensate them for allowing the House of Lords to pass the Veto Bill.
It is practically 'Settled that nn autumn session will bo hold, Parliament adjourning in a fortnight and resuming in October.
