COMPETITORS ENTERTAINED.

Tho competitors at tho recent Festival of Empire sports meeting were entertained last night nt n dinner at the Crystal Palace. Lord Desborough. who presided, presented the Lonsdale Cup to the Canadians, and tho inter-Empire medals to the other competitors. In making the presentations, Lord Desborough congratulated the overseas representatives on coming thousands of miles to participate. In doing so, they were animated by the best feelings as sportsmen. The chairmau also announced in connection with tho Olympic Games at Stockholm in 1912, that arrangements were being made for British, Australasian, Canadian, and South African teams to train together in England, and to go to Stockholm together if possiblo as an Empire team. Mr. Coombes, manager of tho Australasian team, asked for reciprocity by Britain, and suggested that a, British athletic team should be sent to Australia.
