MANAWATU COUNTY. COUNCIL.
The regular monthly meeting of (ho Manawatu County Council was held yesterday. Present: Councillors J. G. \Vilson (chairman), J. Hensbn, H. H. Hunt, H. B. M'Kenzio,- W. Barber, G. Kendall, and T. Masters. The' Minister for Railways wrote expressing regret that he could not see his way .to reduce the freight charged on imported hardwood Used for bridges, etc. The Under-Secretary for Internal Affairs wrote staring that Coronation subsidies must be claimed before December 31. 1911,......;..:: :...._.._:..:. The council's treasurer. (Mr. Drew) reported the balances to be: General account, dr., .£1620 13s. lfld.; loan account, cr., .£358 13s. ?d. Amounts available for expenditure to March 31. 1912: "Sandon Hiding, ,6214 7s. 10d.; Mount Stewart, .£3OO 18s. Bd. ; Waitohi, ,£l9l ss, 3d.; Bongntoa. .£228 7s. Id.; Carnarvon. JE3GS 12s. 3d.; Kawa Kawa-Awahou, ,£l9B 2s. 2d.; Wherokine, Xl2l Os. Bd.
