MANAWATU HUNT.

(By Telegrash.—Spotial Corresoondent.) Palmerston North, July 30. The Maiiawatu Hunt wound up the season so far sis this district is concerned with a most, successful meet at. .Tackeytown on Saturday afternoon. The-wcather was ideal for limiting, and n large field assembled to take part in (he sport, there also being a very large number of spectators. There were'three runs over splendid country, anil the hunt was thoroughly enjoyed. The field following included several ladies, who were well up with the hounds at the "kill." The drags were laid by Messrs. W. and T. Buick, the field being in charge of Mr. J. I'. Connor, one of the deputy-masters. The huntsman (Mr. D. Bennet) had the hounds in great buckle, and they ran true and fast. At the conclusion of the afternoon tea was dispensed by Mrs. and Misses Buick, and they were accorded hearty votes of thanks for their hospitality, as were also the owners for the use of their paddocks. season will be concluded by hunts at Miramar (Wellington) on Saturday and Monday next. Oil Saturday evening the Steeplechase and Ball Committees of the Mnnawatu llunt met, the president, Mr. S. It. Lancaster, in the chair. The statements of receipts and expenditure showed that there was a loss on the steeplechase meeting, but the ball gave a surplus of ,£7. Hearty votes of thanks were passed to the iion. officials who bad- rendered such valuable assistance at the steeplechase meeting, and also to the Decorating Committee of the ball, who had carried out their duties so successfully. A special vote of thanks was also passed to Mr. J. JDavidson, who had acted as hon. secretary to the Ball Committee. It was agreed that both the steeplechase meeting and the ball were great successes.
