RICCARTON TRAINING NOTES.
Tho Christchurch "Evening News" has the following account of Saturday's track work at Eiccnrtou:—lt was a bright sunny morning when training operations commenced. The outside of the course proper, on which all of the gallops took place, provided excellent- going. Proceedings commenced shortly before eight o'clock by Bonny Glen (C. Emerson) being dispatched for a gallop over a mile, which he ran in lmin. 47 i-sscc. Martine (light-weight) ran a similar' distance in lmin. 47 3-ssec. Coroniform (light-weight), who was also sent the same journey as his stable conipanions, registered lmin. -17 2-ssec. Prim daihed' over ■ six furlongs in lmin. lOsec. Nyland (G. Price) wa r : goin.i: better than Boanerges (A. Oliver) at tho end of a five-furlong flutter, run in linin. 1 2-ssec.— a useful gallop. St. Aidan and Appin (J. Ilercock) jumped si.v flights of the schooling hurdles, the former appearing to most advantage. Murmura (light-weight), assisted by Puaka over the last six furlongs, ran a mile in lmin. 52 3-ssec. Flambeau (11. M'Gregof) occupied lmin. 3-tscc. while getting to the'end of seven furlongs. Flitaway went better than Somersault in a similar task, the time registered being lmin. 3-llsec. Eiya was going better than Whakaweira and Centaur at the end of a half-mile spin run in 51sec. Antarctic proved too good for The Native over a mile journey run in lmin. 55 l-ssec.—a fair, performance. Glenfield and Stcpmetor finished together over half a mile run' in Sssoc. Axiom was slightly better than Amaru (E. Lowe) at the end of a, 'sixfurlong spin run in lmin. 231 sec. . Espartero (Jerry O'Connell), Compass (Cochrane), and Embrasure (L. Lloyd) were companions in a schooling task over five' flights of the schooling hurdles. The former, a fine-looking animal, had slightly tho best of Compass at the finish, with Embrasure; several lengths away. Eurus (L. Hagerty) and Dorando (P. Brady) set out for. a couple of rounds of the big fences. Commencing at the double, they kept together till the sod wall the second time round, at which Dorando (who otherwise jumped satisfactorily) came down, but neither horse nor rider was any the worse for the mishap. This left the former, who gave a fair exhibition, to finish alone. _ All Guns dashed over half a mile in 52 l-ssec. Yasmak (C. Cress), Cornzon (J. Hercock), Captain Jinglo (Joo O'Connell), Dnil (R. Thompson), and Le Beau (Pinker/ were companions in a schooling task over a couple of rounds of the big country, commencing at tho post and rails. After completing a round, which all jumped safely, the two last-named weie pulled up, the others continuing on for another round all giving a good disnlay, Corazon being under a strong pull throughout. Wairaki (L. Coleinan), Sapience i». Levi), and Shillelagh (1!. Wilson) finished in that order at tho end of a schooling task over fivo (lights of hurdles. Continuance (J. Jones) and Paisano (G. Jones) gave a fine exhibition of fencing, while negotiating four (lights of the schooling hurdles. .Dodger Bank (H. Hickton) jumped safely wiiilo performing a similar task. The Gunner (H. Colcer) and Red M'Gregor (C. Cochrane), commencing at the post aud rails, were companions orer a round of tho big fences,' tho former giving tho best display. Mercedes (E. Scoullar) finished slightly in front of Canterbury (J. Levi) at tho end of a schooling task over four flights of hurdles. Honest Tom (W. Pet-' ter) and Silver Blaze (L. Lloyd), commencing and finishing over tho double, gave a good display of fencing, the former being several lengths in frout at the finish of the journey. The Cornet was going better than Tangeroa at the end of a sixfurlong spin in lmin. 22 2-ssec. Incy (J. Jones) ran five furlongs nicely in lmin. Ojsec., Eaglostone taking lmin. 9 4-ssesc. for a similar task. Fasnnkyle (lightweight) ran tho last half of one mile in 55 -l-ssec. Eevcnge (L. Hagerty) and King of Trumps (I!. Wilson) gave a good exhibition of fencing over once round of the big fences. Northern Star, who commenced with tho above, was pulled up through his rider losing a stirrup nt the brush. Ito (W. llc-tter) gave a satisfactory exhibition while jumpiiis four flights of the schooling hurdles. King Try (W. Jarvis) was to have accompanied the former, but. persistently refused to go, and was eventually not persevered with. Tyrannic (N. Campbell) jumped safely over the double, brush, sod wall, and hurdle. While afterwards doing steady work on the inside track, this horse fell, luckily no damage resulting. Among others who wero .restricted to half-pacing were Sea Dog, Negative (looking well), Cardiff. Hoanga, Gold Thread, Santa Claus, Sea King, and True Blue. Tho last-named was showing signs of lameness after work.
