■ 1 "Tennyson, Hip Poet of Beauty. Love,' and Faith," is the title of a lecture to. bo given here on Wednesday by the Rev, J. Gibson' Smith, nf Wellington. A iest case (tailing with the registration of dogs was hearrl by Jlr. A. D. Thomson. S.M., nt the Feildinc sitting nf the Court yesterday morning. The Oroua County Council sought to compel Herbert .Price to register his dogs in the Oroua county. The facts were admitted as follow Defendant was a sheep farmer having a farm of 1400 acres in the Kangitikci county and another of 600 acres in the Oroua. Th« residence was in the latter county. He worked the dogs himself. Defendant espbincd that the reason why he wished to register the dogs in Ihe Kangitikei county was that his residence was only a mile from the border, and the roads he used in travelling between his two farms were exclusively in the Kangitikci county. If one of lus dogs got, astray it would lie found in the Kangitikei county, and, having a Rangitikei collar on would bs easily traced, whereas an Oroua collar on the dog would probably causo any farmer on whos!> property it was found to give it a cut" with a whip, and he would lose it. After hearing legal argument, the magistrate reserved judgment.
