PORT NICHOLSON YACHT CLUB.

i ANNUAL SMOKE CONCERT. .' , Last evening the Port Nicholson Yacht Club held its annual smoke concert and distribution of prizes. Mr. C. J. Word, commodore of tho club, presided over a large attendance of members and friends. Among those present were representatives of all kindred clubs. Mr. A. H. llimlmarsli was also one of tho guests. During tho evening some capital musical items were given, one feature being a number of conjuring tricks by Mr. E. Major. The trophies presented _ last evening were donated by the following:— Mr. E. Tucker, jeweller (first ladies' race), H. Martin and Co,, pair of pictures (first prize for iirct-cln.vs yacht nice); Sir. G. Jackson, barometer and thermometer (second prize for ocean race). The prizes wero presented by the club's commodore. It was intimnk'd i>l the concert that his Excellency, Lord Islington, had promised to bo present at one of tho club's functions during the next season, The following toasts wero honoured during the evening:—"Yachting," "Kindred Clubs," "Wellington Harbour Board," "Cook Strait," "Tho Sarads," "Tho Ladies," "Kindred Sports," and "The i i Press." ■
