A public holiday was observed in Edinburgh to-day. .., .Crowds witnessed a picturesquo procession from Holyrood Palace to St. Giles's Cathedral, where King George dedicated the Chapel of the Knights of the Thistle. St. Giles's, the oldest parich church in Edinburgh, now usually styled "Cathedral, was erected in the 12th century on tho site of 'a much earlier edifice. The »««" Chapel of the Knights of the Thistle has-been crocted at the southeast angle of the chancel, and is entered from an ante-chapel on the sito of the old Royal Porch. The Order of tho Thistle was founded bv James V in 1510, renewed by James VII in 1687, and restored by Queen Anne in 1703. It consists of the Sovereign and sixteen knights with extra knights of the Royal Family.
