Mr. John Burns, President of the Local Government 'board, in opening tho conference of tho National Association for Preventing Consumption, stated that tho disease had decreased during the last decado by 19 per cent in England and Wales, 21 per cent in both Scotland and Ireland, and 30 per cent in London. There were only two deaths in London to every three in Berlin and fivo in Paris. Consumption and tuberculosis, Mr. Burns said, were diminishing forces. Experts believed that their annihilation ought to bo effected in 25 years.
