Judgment has been delivered in tho Judicial Committee of tho Privy Council —tho Supreme Tribunal of Empire—in an important appeal in connection with the winding-up of a Canadian railway. Tho question at issue was whether the Attorney-General of Canada—the appellant—could successfully object to a claim brought by tho Standard Trust Company of New Vork to be admitted as creditors of the South Shore Railway Company in liquidation, for .'HS.OOOdoI. This sum had been transferred to tho Standard Trust Company, tho respondents in the appeal ease, by a syndicato to whom tho South Shore Railway Company owed that amount. The appeal, which was upheld by the Judieial Committee, was from a derision of (he Supremo Court of Canada upholding the claim.
