LORD AND LADY ISLINGTON'S . VISIT. "DOES CREDIT TO THE DOMINION." The event of yesterday at the Coronation Exhibition was the visit during the forenoon of his Excellency the Governor and Lady Islington, who were accompanied'by Captnin M'Dougall, A.D.C. The vicc-fcgal party arrived in a motor brougham at 11.15 a.m., mid were welcomed at the main entrance by Messrs. T. Ballingor, L. ft. Partridge, and L\ Bull (Commissioners), Messrs. If. F. -Allen (secretary), IJardio Shaw, 11. 8. Wardcll, and Mesdames J.. P. Luke, Jiallinger, Bull, Partridge, and Miss llardio Hhaw, who accompanied them round the oxhibi-. tion. Their Excellencies manifested a lively interest in many of tho exhibits. They also visited the. Art Gallery, tho homo industries, and tho schools section, and tho Agricultural Department's attractive exhibit. Both his Excellency and Lady Islington signed the visitors' book on leaving. Opposite her signature her Ladyship wrote: "Most interesting exhibition, doing great credit lo the Dominion." During the visit of his Excellency the Governor and Lady Islington Professor Godfrey gavo an exhibition of his trained birds and dogs in the Coronation Theatre. People to tho number of 1210 passed through the turnstiles yesterday, bringing the total up to 118,512. Yesterday's cash receipts amounted to .£25 Gs. 3d. , POSSIBLE EXTENSION OF TIME, THE BANK BALANCE. ' Highly satisfactory reports regarding tho Exhibition were received by the General Committee of the Industrial Association last night, and eulogistic references were made to the efforts of the executive. A statement of receipts and expenditure from May 24 to showed that the receipts totalled JE49W 4s. M., and tho bank balance was JIC22 10s. Bd. The Exhibition had been fixed to close on July 30, but the committee instructed the executive to endeavour to arrange to keep it open a few days longer, in view of the opening of Parliament.

BOWLING TOURNAMENT. ■ The Coronation pairs tournament was advanced another stage last evening, when the semi-finals were played between G p.m. and 10 p.m. The following are the results Lf.tlie sanies played:— .1 Pr.'ifii inals: Brackenridpe beat Ballan|i)iitv.'K ■ •!); Kelly beat Prince, 13—7; .tfoutley beat Hill. 15-12. Tlie draw resulted in Brackenridgo playing Routloy, and Kelly playing Dimcck. The first, game was a fine contest, Brackenridgo winning with.his last bowl. Routley went off with a rush at tho start, Routley scoring 12 to his opponent's 4 (on the eighth head).: Thereafter Brackenridge drew up steadily till t,he' fifteenth head, when they were H all. Routley lay one when Brackenridge had his last bowl to play, and with it he drew the shot, laying one. : In the other game, Dimock beat Ivelly 2J—7. ' This was a fairly easy win for the Thorndon man (Dimock). Only fourteen heads were played, Dimock being then too far ahead to allow of Kelly win- ' Tho final, between Lewis and Dimock and the two Braekenridges, will be played at tho Stadium at li o'clock this evening. .

COMING, EVENTS... .^ t . oVi The boy'scouts of Wellington a're.'to give a unique entertainment, in the Stadium on Friday evening, in aid of the Hepple Fund. The .boys have been very active selling tickets' for the past week, and as every penny taken goes to Mrs. Hepple, there is likely to be a very large audience. Things."necessary in frontier work and pioneering; are to be constructed. These will include a rapou raft, moriori canoe, brush-toitoi shelters, grass hut, and bridges. A good 'veninfjs entertainment is promised. lhe .Mission Band will play.

The Wellington Hockoy Association's Sub-Committee appointed to manage the tournament at tho Exhibition Stadium tomorrow night have drawn up the rules for the control of the games. _ .. The committee have received entries from six Saturday and three Wednesday l clubs. The first game will commence at. 7 30 p.m., and competitors' passes can be obtained from Mr.. A. A. Bennett, care of Messrs. Atkinson and Bennett, Lambtan Tlie first round drawings and time for each match to commence arc as follow:— St. Mark's v. Government Life, at (.30 P 'YJ[ C.A. v. ''WIRELESS" IN THE EXHIBITION. : There is going' to be some fun at. the Exhibition on Friday evening, when the public v;ill be' afforded an opportunity of sending wireless messages to any of their friends within the building. The pending station will be in Jlr. T. Ballinger's stall in the annexe, and the messages will be transmitted to another station to be erected in the Red Cross AVard (in the Home Industries section). A charge of sixpence will be made for each message, sent, and the proceeds arc to be devoted to the Hepplc Fund. LIVING BEIDGE. Considerable interest is being manifested in the living bridge tourney to ba played in the Stadium on Saturday evening. Tho "hands" will be nlaycd by the following expert players:—Dr. Newman, Messrs. Lan Duncan, J. H. N. A. Burnes, and A. E. Whyte. MASQUERADE BALL. A grand masquerade ball is to bo held in the Stadium on Friday, July 28, the nisht before the Exhibition closes. Admission will be by invitation only. Ihe committee expect to be in a position to ■i«sue the invitations this week. Hie price of the double ticket will be 10s. 6d. An experiment has been made with the Stadium floor to test it? suitability for dancing, awl this is taid to have been quite successful.
