A Feilding Wedding. A marriage in which >a considerable amount of interest has been taken by the Tcsidents of this district was celebrated at St. John's Anglican Church, Feilding, at noon Tuesday, July 11, when Miss Olive May Penard Peat, only daughter of Mrs. Hcrcourt Peat, of Feilding, and formerly a member of the lite'rary staff of the Feilding , "Star," was married to the Rev. ■Algernon Holland Colvilo, eldest son of Mr. 11. A. Colvilo, of Copthorne, Sussex, England, . and vicar-designate of St. Mary's, New Plymouth. The vicar (the Rev. A. Innes Jones) officiated at the ceremony. The bride wore a handsome dress of ivory satin, the skirt having a design of true lovers' knots worked on it, and the bodice- being trimmed with cream Indian lace. A veil of Limerick lace and a wreath of orange blossoms completed a charming toilet, the effect of which Was .enhanced by the beautiful shower bouquet of white blossoms and ferns carried by the bride. Little Miss Ruth Innes Jones, who acted as train-bearer, looked very dainty in a Kate Greenaway dress of cream silk and Juliet cap of pearls, with ,pale blue rosettes. The two bridesmaids —Miss Christine Livesoy and Miss Kathleen Innes Jones—wore frocks of eau de nil silk, finished with pale hoiiotrope'nnd gold embroidery, with picture , hats of green crinoline stronv, 'the edges turned up with black velvet, and green piping, and trimmed with white pompoms edged with black. They carried shower bouquets of mauve anemones and violets. The bridegroom's present to the bride was a gold bangle, to the small train-bearer a gold brooch, with pearls and amythests, and to Miss Livesey and Miss Innes Jones were given green aquamarine pendants. The Rev. H. E. Strong, of St. John's College, Auckland, was best man. The bride was given away by her brother, Mr. Louis Peat. The service was a full choral one, St. John's choir being well represented, The organist (Mr. Schwartz) played Mendelssohn's Wedding March as the wedding party left the church. A reception was held by the bride's mother at the Parish Hall after the ceremony, where a large number of guests congratulated the happy couple. The toast of the health of Mr. and Mrs. Colvile was honoured with enthusiasm.
The bride and bridegroom left later in the afternoon by the iMew Plymouth express, the bride wearing a green tweed dress and hat of vieux rose straw, trimmed with dark green velvet and wings of the same shade. They leave for England by the Athenic from Wellington on Thursday, returning to New Plymouth at tho . end of January, next. , . . ■ . • Mr. Colvile conducted the Anglican Mission in Feilding,' and has officiated several-.tiraesrsince in .St. John's Church. Good wishes for the happiness of Mr. and Mrs. Colvile have been heartily expressed by the congregations., and they have been as well the recipients of a very large number of presents. Dance in the Sydney Street Hall. The eighth annual ball of St. Patrick's College Old Boys' Association was held in the .Sydney Street Schoolroom last evening, and was as usual a very enjoyable affair. Most of the decorations this time were confined principally to the stage and to the various side rooms, all of which were brought into requisition and turned into comfortable sitting-out places. .The stage looked particularly attractive, carpeted, and with the walls and" front of it completely covered with softly coloured drupiugs, principally blue and white, the college colours, and furnished with couches, screens, and quantities of tall palms. Supper was provided by J. Godber, the tobies bring decorated with white and yellow narcissi. Tho chaperones for the evening wero Mesdatnes J. J. Devine, W. C. Gasquoine, T, G. Macarthy, and 11. Sullivan. Among those present were Mrs. Gnsquoine, wearing blac>, with gold embroideries; Sirs. Sullivan, black satin; Mrs. Fletcher, black charmeuse with jet trimming; Miss O'Connell, blue chiffon; Mrs. Fuller, tunic frock of emerald ninon, with beading of tho same colour; Mrs. J. Fitzgerald, Wedgwood blue chiffon veiling, while satin; Miss Miller, pink' ninon with silver embroideries; Miss Conlin. white spotted net veiling, whito satin; Miss Harrison, emerald ninon; Miss MacEwan. black velvet, with lace bertho; Miss Godfrey, white chiffon veiling, white silk; Miss B. Wilson, pale pink ninon, with pearl embroideries; Mrs..N. Nathan, black satin; Miss Cohen, heliotrope frock; Miss .T. M'A'vllo, white charmeuse and penrl trimming: Miss Nathan, white satin; Missßvnn, pink silk with silver embroidery; Miss Schnch, white silk; Miss Rossiter, black velvet, with lace berthe; Mis' Mac Donald, black satin; Miss jlickey, white satin. Butler were the joint secretaries. Fraser Medals. A Dnnedin Press Association telegram states that a larger number of nurses than usual sat for examination this year at the hospital for tho Fraser medals awarded for proliciency in practical nursing.
