The plough is going preparing for spring sowings, and the ensuing root crop* and the autumn sown brands are looking excellent. The ewes nre carrying a dense coat of wool, and the lambs arc sold and gone, only a few teqs remaining. "Everything points to n successful ensuing season. tli? milking season commences farmers find great difficulty in setting men and youths who can milk, nor do they want to learn, as they imagine cow spnnkiiig beneath their dignity, yet they cannot call it hard work, as invariably they are asked to do nothing else but clean the cow byre and attend to the milk cart horse." A settler has billed a eounly council for ,£lO "for one cow poisoned." It was stated that the cow died after eating tutu cuttings. '
